What the CDC says

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that most people over 6 months of age should get a flu vaccination this season. The flu vaccine is especially important for those who are at high risk of developing serious complications should they contract the flu, or people who live with or care for others who are at high risk of complications.

The flu shot being offered this season contains inactive flu virus cells of three strains of seasonal influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the upcoming season.

Mercury free shots and FluMist®

Mercury-free flu shots are available for those who prefer them.

We do not carry FluMist® at this time because it is a live virus which means it should not be used by certain groups (including pregnant women) and often causes a mild flu-like illness after use.  As a result, most people prefer the inactivated virus used in the injection.
